JERUSALEM, February 23, 2015 (WAFA) – Israeli settlers, backed by Israeli forces and around 30 military vehicles, demolished the ‘Jerusalem Gate’ tent camp, built to protest Israel’s attempts to annex the area, for the ninth consecutive time since it was erected on 3rd of February, according to a local activist.

Spokesperson of the popular resistance in Abu Dis, Hani Halabiya, told WAFA that an Israeli military force, accompanied by 30 military vehicles, surrounded the tent camp before allowing settlers to demolish it.

The ‘Gate to Jerusalem’ was set up in the Khilet al-Rahib area east of Abu Dis, also widely known as E1 area, in protest against Israeli plans, which according to the Palestinian popular resistance committees, are aimed at the forced expulsion of thousands of Palestinian Bedouins from their lands which occupy a 12,000 dunum area and extend from East Jerusalem to the Dead Sea.

Only last week, forces attacked the camp with tear gas canisters, causing many suffocation cases among activists, before demolishing it yet again.
