Israeli settlers on Monday everning have torched tens of olive trees in private Palestinian land in Azzoon town east of Qalilya, northern West Bank.
Security sources said that civil defense forces headed to the land, and put off the fire which had already damaged a number of trees.
Settlers by then have fled the scene.

Coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlement Ahmad Salah told WAFA that, protected by Israeli forces, a group of settlers forced a Palestinian farmer to leave his farmland located the west of the town and adjacent to the illegal Israeli settlement outpost of ‘Sidi Boaz’ before proceeding to uproot a number of olive saplings.
The land belongs to Ahmad Sbeih, 48.
The local activist stressed that Israeli settlers and forces’ have recently escalated their attacks against the village residents in an aim to force them to leave their land as a prelude to take over it for the benefit of settlement expansion.

NABLUS (Ma’an) — Israeli forces uprooted 300 olive trees on private Palestinian land in the Nablus village of Salem on Monday, Palestinian liaison officials said.
Director of the Nablus District Civil Liaison Office, Luay al-Saadi, told Ma’an that Israeli bulldozers uprooted the trees 48 hours after his office had requested that Palestinian farmers be given access to plow the land.
The fields are located near the illegal Israeli outpost of Havat Skali.
There were at least 329 incidents of settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank in 2014, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
More than 500,000 Israeli settlers live in settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in contravention of international law.
